Freshetta Six Cheese Medley and BBQ Recipe Chicken reviews (and giveaway)

My family recently had the opportunity to try out two of FRESCHETTA® By the Slice pizza varieties.  Due to my wheat allergy, I couldn't try them, but my husband did and he and the kids are the big pizza eaters in our home, so it was a perfect match for my pizza-munching family.

 

My husband prepared both varieties for himself, and I sat with him while he ate, eagerly taking notes (and vicariously living the experience through him.)  He even let me breathe in the aroma up close and personal.  Below are some choice quotes from his experience with this product (see, I told you I took notes!)

FRESCHETTA® By the Slice Six Cheese Medley

My hubby is a cheese lover.  I actually had to shop around a bit to find a store that carried more than Freschetta's other two varieties that included mushrooms since he doesn't like mushrooms at all.

I found this one at a Giant here in Virginia and hoped he'd like the cheese blend.   I asked him to describe his experience and he said, "For microwave pizza, it's pretty good.  Crunchy on the bottom, which is rare for a microwave pizza."  As he ate, he stopped to tell me that, "It's got decent flavor.  It's better than most oven-baked frozen pizzas."  After he finished his slice he said, "It's probably the best microwave pizza I've had."  He said there was enough cheese, enough sauce, and the right proportion of things.  It even looked like it went through an actual pizza oven (there were darker marks on the crust).

I bought a second variety, even though I was provided with just one free coupon to facilitate this review.  I chose the only other variety that I thought my husband might like, that being the BBQ Chicken.  This was a stretch for me since in nearly 15 years of marriage, I've never seen him eat this type of pizza.  He's a double cheese, pepperoni, sausage, bacon, and green peppers kind of guy.  But, I gave it a shot. 

Comments that he made about this product were, "It smells barbequey and actually comes out looking like it does on the box.  That's rare!"  Like the Six Cheese Medley, he liked the crunchiness of the pizza crust.  He likened it not to pizza, but like barbeque chicken on a piece of pizza shaped bread! He admitted, "It's not what I think about when I think of pizza, but it's good."  The only thing he didn't like about the pizza was that the onion was a little strong.  He would have rather had a sweeter or less overpowering tasting onion flavor.  Otherwise, he thought the peppers were good.

Bottom Line:

My hubby liked the convenience of having just one piece.  The piece was large enough to be somewhat satisfying.  He told me to buy these again sometime in the future.  This isn't something he normally tells me.  Usually it is the opposite with him telling me not to buy a product again.  He was impressed with the quality and made a point to tell me that he could taste the quality in this pizza.
