Dirt Devil Easy Lite Cyclonic Quick Vac...

Ok, so I killed my old (by old, I mean 5 years old) vacuum the other day in a blaze of glory.  The switch had some issues and sparks and all that.  Basically, the switch was bad and every time I used it, I welded it a little more (hubby's description).  So, it dies and darn it all if there doesn't seem to be half a box of Fruity Pebbles all over the floor... so hubby points out a $35 Dirt Devil Easy Lite Cyclonic in the Target ad.

I've never had a cyclonic vacuum before, but I borrowed my neighbor's once and loved it.  $35 suit me just fine, though (doh!) I found the same vacuum in a variety of colors at Walmart for $34.  I ended up getting the last one at the Target I went to - a nice berry pinkish red color.  Thank God it wasn't lime green or else I would have passed.  I, of course, didn't know then I could save a buck at Walmart and have a better choice of colors.

Anyways, to say that I was disgusted by what it pulled up out of my floor is an understatement.  Ick!  No wonder my allergies are so bad.  Having owned the Dirt Devil Easy Lite Cyclonic for less than 24 hours, I can't attest to much else other than to state that it vacuumed up a cat's worth of pet hair and enough dirt that I could pot a plant.

If cheap matters to you, take a look at the Dirt Devil  Easy Lite Cyclonic if you need a vacuum.

Disclosure:  Per FTC rules, I must state that the company did not provide me with a product.  I had to shell out $35 to buy this vacuum on my own and therefore I have nothing else to disclose.  This post does contain affiliate links.  Thank you for supporting my site.  My disclosure page is on the side bar.

I too just brought home this "Berry Sprinkle" colored Vac from Target. I rather like the color!
I have had THE WORST luck with vacuums over the last 10 years, so I must divulge that my carpet hasn't had a proper vacuuming for almost 2 years.

When I read on the box, after I'd already purchased it, that it was only 7.0 amps I was a little leery about the $35 bucks I'd just spent. I was used to 12amp vacs- but look where those had gotten me over the years.

Unpacked it, and with a single long screw attached the handle and started her up. I have never had a cyclonic vac before so it was kind of amusing to watch the disgusting stuff spinning around like a tornado in there.

First Impressions as follows!

PROS:

• I cannot believe how much disgusting stuff this thing picks up!! I had to empty the canister 3 times just having gone over a 3'x3' space. I'm sure some of this is due to the fact that the vacuum I've been using for the last two years (doesn't) suck(s), however I am REALLY impressed right now.
• It's super light and small enough to fit into my linen closet. Now my 11 year old has NO excuse for not vacuuming- bonus!!
• The hose is premium quality, not that cheap plastic that's hard to maneuver.
• It worked amazingly well on my aggregate flooring, even without a "bare floor" setting. I've been using a shop vac to clean my flooring for the last couple of years, but this little vacuum picked up SO MUCH JUNK that the powerful shop vac missed! No more dragging out that cumbersome and hard to deal with monster!
• The rinse-able hepa-filter is a major bonus. I have noticed no dust escaping while vacuuming
• Emptying the canister is a breeze! Right into the trash with no nasty dust cloud.

CONS:

• It's loud.
• I'm not thrilled that it doesn't have wheels in the front. It can be a tiny bit hard to push through shag carpet.
• It doesn't have a height adjustment, but the manufacturer's description says that the height is self adjusting.
• The "recline" (for lack of a better word) button is an invisible button under the front left housing of the vacuum itself, apparently. It seems a little flimsy and sometimes, with a little pressure, I can just tilt the handle back without even pressing the lever and it will release on its own.

OVERALL RATING-
I needed a vacuum that worked. I have two cats and aggregate flooring in addition to carpet, so the entire house needs to be vacuumed. So far this vacuum has exceeded my expectations where cleaning is concerned.
To be completely honest, I don't see what the big deal is about having a vacuum that is loud. They're ALL loud, to one degree or another, but really- you're not spending tons of time running this thing around the house, are you? I want to get the carpet clean as quickly as possible and be done with it.
The trade-off for the low price is NOT, in my opinion, the ability for this machine to do the job it was intended to do; the trade-off is in the bells and whistles you get with a higher priced vacuum.

I'd give this vac a low 4 out of 5 stars

I got one on sale at Target also. I love love it. Light weight, self adjusting, good suction. I can go from carpet to hard wood floor and it knows. My only complaint is there is no wand. I would love a wand to reach more. I'm still searching for a wand that will fit.

Oh, I could make a few tweaks too! I agree about the wand... the hose isn't very cooperative to things you must reach for. :)

How do you dump the dirt out besides opening the latch and let it fall out? I have dust jammed up to the top. Is there any other way to remove it?
