The NPS has a few free weekends coming up that may interest you. The first one is April 17-25, which is National Park Week. Some parks don't charge an entrance fee at all, but more than 100 of the ones that do will be free during that week.
I'm not much of a camper. Truth be told, I can't stand the idea of critters, so I would have to be pretty desperate to sleep in a tent in the great outdoors. I'd have to find a park with a cabin and a bed to enjoy camping.
