This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Lunchables. All opinions are 100% mine.
Have you heard about Lunchables' new promotion called Field Trips For All? It's part of a new initiative begun by Lunchables called Project Potential. The Field Trips for All promotion asks the public to nominate deserving classrooms to win 1 of 50 field trips. Lunchables knows that budget cuts are happening across the nation in our schools and extra activities (such as field trips) are one of the first things to be cut or scaled back to save money. They don't want kids to miss out on fun and educational field trips, so they have created Project Potential, in part, to help kids not miss out on field trips (because we all know that was the funnest part of school!)
You can nominate a deserving classroom too - it is so easy! Just go to to http://www.lunchables.com/potential/ and nominate your child's, nephew's, niece's, neighbor's.... classroom to win one of the 50 field trips up for grabs. It took me less than 5 minutes to register and type the answers to the questions of who, what and why they deserve a field trip. I nominated my daughter's class because her school doesn't do many field trips at all. I can remember in Kindergarten, she went to a local farm along the banks of the Rappahannock (a short distance away) and picked strawberries. Educational? Sure. But maybe not as fun as going to a zoo or a museum.
So what did I nominate them for? I live in an area steeped in history. George Washington was born a very short distance from where I live and he grew up near Fredericksburg, VA at Ferry Farm. DC is about an hour away (on a good traffic day!) and they learn about the presidents and other famous people for their standards of learning test. I think it would be fun to send them to DC for the day to see the major sites. Lincoln emancipated the slaves? Go see the Lincoln Memorial! Thurgood Marshall was an Supreme Court Justice? Then go see the Supreme Court. They learn so many facts for these standardized tests and spend so little time doing the fun follow through that a trip could provide.
Of course, you can always nominate your classroom for an Alien Field Trip instead of one steeped in history:
Spread the word and be sure to nominate a deserving class to win a field trip from Lunchables! Once you have nominated a classroom, come back and tell me what kind of field trip you envisioned! I'm a history nut, so an alien field trip wouldn't cross my radar. It's so nice to see a company step up to the plate and try to help fill a gap in a child's education.
