Jarritos Mexican Soda - Review of flavors (and a giveaway!)

I recently received a complimentary sample pack of all of the flavors that Jarritos has to offer to review here at Making Ends Meet.  The kids' eyeballs literally bulged out of their sockets and they started to beg immediately for these.  All in all, they were a complete hit with the kids and a definite change of pace from the soda we normally drink at my house.

About the company:  Jarritos soda is hecho en Mexico, or for those of us who don't speak Spanish, that means it is made in Mexico.  The flavors are based on the traditional foods of regions in Mexico.  Different regions of the country provide the fruits used to make Jarritos - for instance, the grapefruit used in their grapefruit soda comes from Veracruz.  They are also made with 100% natural sugar, which is something that I appreciate.  I have been known to buy the "throwback" version of other sodas mainly because it tastes so much better when made with natural sugar.

Jarritos' 11 Soda Flavors

  • Mandarin
  • Fruit Punch
  • Jamaica
  • Toronja
  • Lime
  • Mango
  • Strawberry
  • Lima-Limon
  • Pineapple
  • Taramind
  • Guava

What did we think of Jarritos' Soda flavors?

My 5 year old loved them all, even the ones that I didn't prefer.  In fact, I think that he drank the most soda of us all!  He loved the Strawberry and my 9 year old really liked the Lima-Limon, which was sort of like Sprite.

I, myself, enjoyed the Pineapple and Mandarin the most.  One thing that really drew me to these flavors was how close they tasted to the real fruit.  The Mandarin really tasted like oranges.  There's a difference between orange flavor and tasting like oranges.  I also think that is why Jarritos was so enjoyed in my house.  The flavor tasted so fresh, it was almost like drinking fresh fruit.

Which ones didn't I like?  Well, to be honest, the only one I would not drink again was the Taramind.  I didn't like the taste at all.  The Guava was ok, but a little too sweet for me.  Other than that, I enjoyed these sodas very much.

Would I buy these on my own?  I would definitely buy most of these flavors again.  In fact, I've spied some flavors on the shelf at my local Food Lion in the section that carries Hispanic food favorites.  I had never heard of Jarritos Soda before the opportunity to review it came up and I would probably never have thought to give this soda brand a try otherwise.  Since the kids are both in school now, mama thinks she might enjoy some kid-free shopping and grab some Jarritos to keep all to herself!

One other thing I liked about this product was that the caps have different values and you can save up the points to cash in for prizes at their store.  Check out Club Jarritos for more information on that!  I have my eye on movie tickets....

  2. I've been drinking Jarritos for a long time now. I even make jewelry out of the bottle caps. I like Pineapple, Mango, and Toronja. We sell them at my Food Lion. I can only get Tamarind if I go to to a Latino Market or Bodega Latina.

From the site I learned that if you can't register an account with Jarritos, you can call the customer service number and they will set up an account for you.
