New Year, New Look at Your Finances: Walmart's Savings Catcher #savingmore

Since I live in a rural county that's pretty much 35 miles away from a large selection of shopping, I do most of my shopping at our local Walmart.  When Walmart launched their Savings Catcher app a few years ago, I was on it.

It's easy to do -- just scan your receipt or manually type the information into the app or even the website and wait for it to find savings you missed had you shopped at other stores.  There's a limit of 7 receipts per week, but I recommend that you scan them right away so you don't let any receipts lapse.

It's a great ad comparison tool that ensures that you got the lowest advertised price for an item that you purchased.  Sometimes, I earn a good chunk of money back, other times... it's pennies.  But it's all found money because I already spent that money anyway.  And even better, the competitors are typically stores in my market area, but are far enough away that I wouldn't be able to visit them easily to shop at anyway.

I've been saving up for about a year since my last cash in and have over 184 dollars!  It's time to pick up a new vacuum cleaner, I think!

So definitely build up your savings at Walmart using their Savings Catcher app or via the Savings Catcher website.  It's a great way to save on every day purchases if you redeem for gift cards often, save up for a bigger purchase if you want something expensive, or keep it there as a grocery cushion for times when your grocery budget is a little too tight or you are planning a party.
