I know, I have a blog post a bit further down that detailed some of the products falling under the massive peanut butter recall. Hundreds of products have now been added and the list seems to be ballooning. The FDA recognizes that consumers need a way to easily identify products, so they have come up with a peanut butter recall searchable database that lets consumers enter search terms (product name, upc) to see if an item has made the recall list. Read more about this here.
In addition, for those of you stockpilers out there, PCA is recalling products back as far as two years ago. So don't just think if something has been made since July 1, 2008 that it is safe. Check your dates and if in doubt, call the manufacturer.
So what is safe? Manufacturers not affected fear the stigma of the peanut butter recall and are placing disclaimers on their websites. Read about that here.
