Interesting email from Hyundai: They'll pay ME each month if I buy a car...

I swear, I nearly spit out my Dr. Pepper when I read this email from Hyundai:

"...Buy select new models and Hyundai will send you money, every month, for the rest of the year. And if you lose your income* in the next 12 months, you can still return the vehicle — but keep the money, your credit rating, and your integrity.

Or you can subtract the total amount of Cash Back from the price of the vehicle for a new, lower price. The choice is yours. Either way, Hyundai is giving you just what you need and deserve in these trying times: cash.

This offer is available only until June 30th...."

I checked into this, and what they do is put money on a reloadable cash debit card. Can you imagine that? Getting several hundred bucks each month to spend versus having to take the credit at signing? Of course, you can still do that, but I just thought this was a very creative way to lure folks into buying a Hyundai. However, if you can't afford a car to begin with, then it wouldn't do you much good. But I was left wondering why GM, Ford and Chrysler didn't think of this great promotion months ago. Throwing tangible money at people is a sure way to build brand loyalty... something that is very important during these trying economic times. Customers remember who the good guys were and who the (perceived) greedy ones were when times are tough.

Want to check out the Hyundai promotion: Go here. The more expensive the car, the larger the monthly stipend.
