Having just had a friend tell me about their $400 electric bills (two in a row) and my own being over $200 bucks a month despite the mild summer heat, I decided to take the plunge and purchase a Kill A Watt because I don't think energy costs are going to get any cheaper. It is better to know which things are adding bucks to your bill so that you are more conscious about leaving appliances or lights turned on/plugged in. If you know that leaving your dishwasher in the ready mode vs. turned off is going to cost you a buck a month, you are more apt to remember to turn it off completely.
I found a Kill A Watt at Amazon for under $25. I just ordered it and I can't wait to get my hot little hands on it. There are a few different models, but I chose the cheapest one. Did I pique your interest? Take a look at some Kill A Watt electricity usage monitors at Amazon. I did search a few other sites and though Amazon wasn't always the cheapest (by about a buck or so), I felt the safest ordering there. Plus, I had some Amazon from Swag Bucks, so I used those to pay for the Kill A Watt 4400 that I purchased.
If you've tried a Kill A Watt, please leave a comment. I think for $25 it could be a great gadget to keep on hand. I want to know which things in my house are costing me the most. If it is my computer, I just may cry!
Disclaimer: I have not tried this product, I merely ordered one. I was not enticed by the company that manufactures Kill A Watt products to mention their products in this blog posting. I am, however, an Amazon affiliate. If you shop through an Amazon link above or in any other post, I may receive a commission. Again, I am not getting rich. My last statement shows Amazon earnings of .18 for the past year and a half, no joke!
