Back to school means back to collecting and sending those Box Tops for Education, Campbell's Labels for Education, Tyson's A+ labels, etc. for your child's school. Even if you don't have a little one in school anymore, please consider saving these items anyway. Schools are usually one of the first items on a budget chopping block (this is so true where I live!) so saving these items really can help a school. In my case, I know that my child's PTA uses the money generated from redeeming BTFE specifically for teacher wishlist items that the budget doesn't afford them.
What do you need to save? Check out this article I wrote a few years ago - it includes pictures so you know what you are looking for. For Campbell's labels especially, please remember we are looking for the UPC symbol (or on most cans nowadays, the part of the label that has the UPC and point value on it). Label fronts are useless. They used to take the label fronts, but quit doing so a few years ago. I can't tell you how many label fronts I throw away each year because they are not accepted.
Easy ways to save BTFE, CLFE, Tyson A+ labels for empty nesters and grandparents: One extremely easy way to save these items is to put them in an envelope. Many grocery stores and libraries have a receptacle where you can drop these things in as you go about your normal activities. If you don't think you'll remember, take 2 minutes and write your local school's address on the envelope. When it is full or a few times a year, whichever works best, seal it shut, pop on a stamp and mail it with your bills. It is only .44 cents, but each Box Top For Education is worth 10 cents to a school. Campbell's labels add up over time and even Tyson labels (which we submit by the 100) is worth 24 cents to your local school.
Times are tough, but a little clipping can make a huge difference to a school. If you don't have a school to donate to, send me a message. I'd be glad to accept your generous donation and would even reimburse your stamp to mail them to me.
