If you have an old crib, bassinet, car seat or other baby stuff lying about, consider hauling it to Toys R Us if you are looking for an upgrade.
In 'Cash for Clunkers' style, Toys R Us is giving consumers trading in those older items a 20% discount on new baby merchandise from select manufacturers in an event they are calling "The Great Trade-In." Read the press release for more details.
Who will this benefit? Soon-to-be parents who have a large gap between their children can take their old items in to get a discount on newer, perhaps safer models. The Great Trade-In seeks to bring awareness to parents about the dangers of recalled baby items (this on the heels of a re-release of the Simplicity Recall due to infant death due to strangulation - a parent's worst nightmare).
So, if you are mom or dad with one on the way after a huge gap or a granny with an older crib, consider trading it in for safety's sake and buying something newer and hopefully safer.
