Creative ways to earn extra money in a tough economy

I found this article at MSN Careers about creative ways to earn extra money and thought it quite interesting. As you may know, I do write content online for extra bucks (and yes, the tax man cometh - I report that income each year, paltry as it is), which is one of the first things listed in that article's top 10 list.

I have also dabbled at mystery shopping, which is somewhat harder for me for two reasons: a) living in the boondoggles doesn't mean a lot of open shops; and b) wheat allergies tend to disqualify you from fast food shops.

Also listed was signing up with survey companies. To check out some survey companies that I have rated, please see here and here. I do spend a bit of time on sweeps, and I have won some pretty sweet merchandise. I didn't have any big wins last year though. However, it is a unique way to get things free (well, there's taxes if it is over $600...) and if you are choosy about which sweeps to enter, you shouldn't waste too much time entering contests with low odds. I skip sweeps that offer prizes I wouldn't want anyway. We all love to win, but I'd rather win something useful or needed.

If you happen to click any of the links above re: surveys, or have any questions about writing content online, please leave a comment. I'm happy to answer any questions you might have. I do think, though, with such a high unemployment rate, more and more people will be finding creative ways to earn extra money.
