Send a fax for free with Fax Zero (faxzero.com)

I have a fax machine. I really do. However, because I don't have long distance on my home phone (why pay for it if you get it as part of your cell phone plan?) I couldn't send the fax I needed to send because the number was not a toll free fax number. What to do? I asked my tech savvy hubby who found me a sweet site to send faxes for free - Fax Zero.

We have both used Fax Zero. He needed to send a fax to someone for his church related organization and I needed to fax to Disney to ask them to replace a mug that was broken before we even got home.

Faxing via Fax Zero was really quite easy. It is free, provided that you don't care that there's an ad on the cover page. I guess that's how they make it free. But for free you can send a maximum of 3 pages per fax, up to two times per day. If you have more than that, you can opt for the paid faxing, which was rather quite reasonable. More on that in a minute!

What I did was create a fax cover sheet in Word. I scanned my receipt I needed to send and copied and pasted it into that Word document. I then converted it to .pdf via a free program called PDF Creator that my husband found a few years ago. I probably could have left it in Word, but I thought the .pdf would probably have less issues with going through. You can fax a .doc, .docx or a .pdf file.

After I attached everything, entered my name, recipient's name and fax number, I was then queued. I received an email stating I was queued and that I would receive another email later when the fax went through. I received both emails as promised and am very happy with being able to fax online for free using this service.

Fax Zero's pricing:

Free faxes can be sent, 2 per day. One .doc, .docx, or .pdf attachment per fax. There's an ad on the cover page, but you can send maximum of 3 pages per fax. Great for quick faxes that need sent.

You can also choose the premium faxing option which costs $1.99 per fax, payable via PayPal. There is a maximum of 15 pages that can be sent for this fee and you get priority delivery. There is no ad on the coverpage with this option, so this would be a good option for those who may want to spend the $2 to have a more professional looking fax.
