Saving money is sometimes work. I can't tell you how many times I have been told that clipping coupons and redeeming them at the store is just too much work. These people don't reap the savings and hey, I laugh all the way to the bank. My kids know that using coupons means we have money for other fun things, like a small toy or an impromptu trip to Chuck E. Cheese.
Saving money at the grocery store doesn't need to be time intensive for those of us who are addicted to social media. I can't tell you how many times I have gotten free products by becoming a fan of one company or another on Facebook. Recent hauls there have included a Helluva product coupon, a coupon for free cookies when I bought 2 packages of Cookies and milk, and a free Redbox code for St. Patty's day. Becoming a fan of major companies, including your grocery stores, on Facebook can have its money saving advantages.
In addition to Facebook, you should also follow your grocery store on Twitter. Not all coupons are released all in one convenient spot, so following your grocery stores on Facebook and Twitter can reap you more savings opportunities.
For those who are into text messages, a lot of grocery stores offer special offers for agreeing to receive their text messages. This can cost you, though, if your cell plan doesn't give you unlimited texting. I rarely text or receive texts, so it isn't worth it to me since it costs me 10 cents each way.
I'll dig up some links to some grocery stores' social media and post them in another post. Look for it soon.
