I've ordered glasses online before, but never from Zenni Optical. I was recently given the opportunity to place an order through Zenni Optical's website, www.zennioptical.com, and was pleasantly surprised by how easy ordering glasses on their site was! Here is the YouTube video I made of it.
Part way through, you'll hear me telling my son that no, he couldn't play with his playdoh. (And if you saw the purple stain on my Berber, you'd understand why.) See, ordering glasses online from Zenni Optical is so easy, a mom can multitask and do it!
I had browsed through their site and did have a few in mind. The pair I ultimately selected was just $8 and after shipping of $4.95, that total came to just $12.95. It took about two weeks for my glasses to arrive via USPS. They were made in China, but mailed from California, so it took some time to arrive. They arrived in a bubble pack envelope in a plastic case, with the cleaning cloth wrapped around the lenses. Shipment time will vary, but I have ordered from Zenni Optical twice now and one took two weeks and the other took closer to three weeks to arrive.
Really, how easy is it to order from Zenni Optical?
If you saw the video, you know that it is really easy if you have your prescription handy. I did have to call where I had my eyes examined to obtain the PD - pupillary distance - value, but that is a part of your prescription that they must provide to you if asked. One quick phone call and I had all I needed to place an order. It is as simple as choosing a frame, filling in the information and completing the shipping and payment information. You just click through the order form entering exactly what is on your prescription. As for the PD, your eye doctor either gives this to you as a whole number or two numbers which you then add together. If they give you one number, that's the one you use. If they give you two, then you just add them together and enter that value.
Great for kids?
They do have children's frames, which parents may wish to consider because kids are so rough on their glasses. Having been the kid that always broke their glasses or lost or tore a contact, having the affordable option of buying an extra pair of glasses online appeals to me. Thankfully, my kids got my husband's good eyesight. However, I remember breaking my glasses in gym class once and my parents gluing and regluing (and even hot gluing) my glasses until they could afford to get me a new pair.
Wanna see me in my new Zenni Optical $8 glasses?
I know what you're thinking (other than "Hey PinchingAbe. Your picture is crooked in the background!). They're kind of cute.... I think so too! And for 8 bucks plus shipping, they were a bargain.
