I recently received an EasyLunchBox system to review from EasyLunchBoxes.com for my Healthy and Fun Lunch Snacks Blog Event. The containers are compartmentalized and similar to Bento lunch boxes where you can put a different food in each compartment.
Pictured: EasyLunchBox with two containers inside. |
What I liked about the EasyLunch Box system I was sent:
The compartments make it easy to take a hard look at your food choices. Visualizing your lunch as you pack it may make you think twice about using a compartment for potato chips! The EasyLunchBoxes site has a gallery of photos to give you some great lunch ideas if you find yourself packing the same lunches over and over. Take a look through the gallery for some lunch inspiration! You can even email them your own pictures of the lunches you pack using your EasyLunchBox system.
Veggies and fruits are a great thing to add to kids lunch boxes. Including raisins, grapes, carrot sticks and celery with peanut butter make lunch both fun and nutritious. They'll fit in the EasyLunchBox. You can easily use the smallest compartment for a dollop of peanut butter and the other smaller one for celery sticks. Kids love ants on a log, so be sure to include a few raisins!
EasyLunchBox containers are also microwave safe, which is great since sometimes last night's dinner is today's lunch at my house! My kids love cold pizza the next day for lunch, which means I can pre-pack their lunch the night before and just stack them in the fridge for the next day.
The containers aren't leak proof though, something you should bear in mind. If you were to pack a taco salad, for instance, segregating the cheese and dressing, you still would want to use a separate dressing container to avoid a mess. These containers are also easy on kids hands --- that is, they are easy to open.
Stack em' up in the cooler!
A ho-hum lunch for me, but one my Kindergartener loves! |
Surprise! Hubby likes the system....
I thought my kids would love the EasyLunchBox system as a back to school lunch box this year, but they wanted their character lunch boxes. Hubby loves the product though! What I would love to see is characters on the outside. My kids really want to see their favorite characters - or at least something - on the outside of their lunch bag. To them, their lunch box is a personal statement about themselves -- one to the whole world (ok, to the entire cafeteria...) I would love to see some festive prints on the coolers or perhaps a way to personalize them with their name.

I got ideas from the lunch making tips and ideas. Instead of an ice block, I can place a frozen juice box or water bottle in the lunchbag. It’ll keep the food chilled and will be thawed by lunchtime. I can also remove odors from a lunch box by placing inside a slice of bread that has been soaked in white distilled vinegar. Leave overnight.

I learned that a set of 4 containers is only $13.95 and the cooler bag is $7.95. Very reasonably priced in my books!
I found out about the creator KELLY LESTER! I always like to know "who thought up this idea?"
What a busy multi talented lady! Love the quote "Easylunchboxes.com was born out of Kelly’s innate ability to do things efficiently while on a shoestring budget, and her desire to send her daughters to school with simple, healthy food, with little to no extra packaging or ingredients." And now she has made it easy for us efficient chalenged mommas!!

I was pleased to see that the plastic containers are dishwasher safe, but I was a little put off by the suggested way of removing odors (soaking bread in vinegar and leaving it in the container overnight...) But, that's okay cause I have some other odor removing tricks up my sleeve... I found this information on the FAQ page.

The owner said "My EasyLunchbox System pairs food-safe reusable lunch containers with roomy cooler bags. It's the green, sack lunch alternative — sized just right for kids and adults."
This does look like a really great way to pack lunches. I am tired of all the little bags I need to buy all the time. On top of that they are costly!
I would love to win one of these for my son!
