Thanksgiving Plans: Are You Planning to Travel?

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of NAVTEQ. All opinions are 100% mine.

I was somewhat surprised and delighted to be invited to Thanksgiving dinner at my sister and her fiance's home.  When they asked what our plans were, we really didn't have any.  No one from my husband's side of the family had expressed an interest in coming to visit, so we accepted.  My sister only lives an hour and a half away (OK, perhaps two if the traffic is bad), and one thing that has us concerned is traffic, particularly as we will have to wind our way around the DC snarl.

Updating to new maps for your in-dash GPS isn't exactly something you think about every day.  But as the holidays approach quickly, the benefits are immense.  Maps change almost daily and having the most up-to-date maps can save you hours of time if you are forced to detour due to an accident.  You can confidently know that if you are in a back up, you can get off at the next exit and divert to another route to get you where you need to go.

Getting a map update should be something that you plan to do if you are going to be traveling for Thanksgiving or Christmas.  It makes your trip safer and it could help you save money since you'll be able to use the fastest routes based on the latest maps available for navigation.

So don't be left with cold turkey and no pumpkin pie because you arrived for Thanksgiving dinner late because of a navigational snafu that caused you to go 20 minutes out of your way to back track and get back on route.  Update your maps and know that you'll be traveling safely and swiftly to your destination.
