Every parent has dreams for their children. Sometimes those dreams don't mesh with reality once a child reaches adulthood. However, while my children are still young, I can keep my dreams alive. I dream of a day when my children will fly from our nest into one of their own as adults, hopefully gaining all the life skills that they need along the way.
Recently, I've added a new dream to my list. I dream of my son as a Boy Scout, perhaps reaching Eagle Scout someday. My son is so excited about joining Cub Scouts, something quite out of the ordinary for him since he's not really a joiner. We took his enthusiasm to heart and signed him up last week. It's so important to support your child in activities that excite them. Belonging to a civic minded group will help foster citizenship, good manners, and so much more. It's a great opportunity to learn for him, and the perfect father/son activity.
