National Prescription Drug Take Back Day: Saturday, October 29!

Have some prescription drugs that you no longer need, but are wary of just tossing or flushing?  This Saturday, October 29, 2011, participate in National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.  This one-day event enables you to take prescription drugs to participating locations for disposal.  The DEA plans to hold these events twice a year, so if you miss out this time, be looking for another event around April 2012 if they hold to their schedule. Here are some details to keep in mind:
  • Hours at participating locations are 10 AM - 2 PM.
  • The DEA site cites that 7 Million people abuse prescription drugs and 2,500 teens take prescription drugs to get high for their first time each day.  You don't want to leave those tempting drugs in your cabinet or grandma's cabinet or any other relative's cabinet where your teen might be.
  • Find a site near you using the link below.  Sites are added often so keep checking back if you don't find one local to you.
  • It's free --- there's no fee for taking your unused/expired prescription drugs to be disposed of by law enforcement personnel.  The peace of mind is well worth the effort!
