CPSC list of hoverboards investigating for fire hazard

Which hoverboards are catching fire?

It seems that I am reading about a hoverboard fire at least once a week.  Most recently, it was a home in Tennessee where a 16 year old kicked out the second story window and jumped into the safety of her dad's arms.

Her dad got her younger brother out with the use of a ladder.

Scary stuff!

For the record, I don't own a hoverboard and when reports of fires associated with them started coming out before Christmas, I took notice.  I would not want to willingly bring a fire hazard into my home, even though it looks like a lot of fun otherwise.

In late January, the Consumer Product Safety Commission released a list of hoverboard models that they're investigating, though the release does state that they have not made a determination about the safety of the products at this time.  However, the list may serve as a warning if you purchased a model or a deterrent if you're thinking about one of the models on the list, but haven't made a decision yet.

I've rearranged their list a bit to list ones by the same manufacturer together.

The hoverboard alleged to have caused that fire in Tennessee is not on the CPSC list.  It was identified as a Fiturbo F1 and was sold on Amazon.    To reiterate, the CPSC is looking into the above list, but has not made any determination as yet to their safety.

If you experience a fire or any unsafe charging or other unsavory event, please report it to the CPSC so that they can track the safety of these products.  If you know someone who has had an incendiary experience, please have them report it.
