Programmable Thermostat - Stocking stuffer idea, Christmas gift idea or even a housewarming gift idea

Programmable thermostats are a cool way to save on your heating costs. I keep nagging hubby to get one for the house because we'd had one in our first home. It was great; it'd kick on about 15-20 minutes before my feet hit the cold floor and the bathroom would be toasty warm before I hopped in the shower. It turned down when we left for work, kicked on when we were coming home from work, and then turned itself down at about bedtime each night.

Lowes has programmable thermostats for about $40. Know anyone who just bought a house? Programmable thermostats make a great housewarming gift (or is it a housecooling gift?) I know when my hubby and I purchased our first home, his mom and dad gave us cash since they didn't know what to buy us as a housewarming gift. We took the money to Lowes and bought enough insulation to bring it up to specs per our home inspector's report. Now that was a true housewarming gift!
