Well, I am positive that I am not the only Netflix customer who is angry over the forthcoming exorbitant price jump for Blu-Ray users! Judging by the over 300 blog comments, I would have to say that I read most of them and would easily say there were few people jumping up and down with glee. In fact, many posters either downgraded their accounts to keep their pricing scheme the same, dropped the Blu-Ray option all together or even canceled their Netflix accounts in protest.
As a Netflixer myself, I kid you not when I got that email my jaw hit the floor, followed summarily by my blood pressure skyrocketing. I forwarded the egregious email to my significant other and he was pretty hot under the collar. We do have a PS3 that plays Blu-Ray discs and honestly, the quality is far superior to traditional DVDs. However, there have been plenty of times when Blu-Rays we did want were on long waits, short waits or we even got the DVD format anyway after so long. So he was left scratching his head why we'd want to pay more for the poor choice and poor availability of the Blu-Rays we could get. Hubby is pretty mad and we are going to be discussing our options now. I know, many people don't think 4 bucks a month is enough to trifle over. But times are tough and people are petty (I know I can be pretty petty!) and often it just takes that one little shove to anger people enough to leave. So now, I need to research Blockbuster and we'll be taking a harder look at how many movies we really do watch per month and whether it would just be cheaper to haul ourselves to the video store in our town to choose titles.
