There's still time to apply for coupons for a digital converter box. As you may recall, we were supposed to switch over in February, but that date was pushed back. Let's hope Congress doesn't keep pushing it back... and let's enter the digital age!

I have seen CVS offer digital converter boxes for $40, so they would be free after your DTV coupon comes... I am sure as we get closer to the conversion, there will be many retailers offering similar promotions. Please also note that these coupons do have a short expiration date.

Hey I have a question about the $40 CVS converter boxes. Since they're $40, and the coupons are worth the same, are they absolutely free? 'Cause I remember similar offers where you have to pay a dollar for it in addition to the coupon. Not that I mind, just curious.
The $40 comes off like when you would use a normal pre-paid card. Why would you have to pay for a dollar? Would that be because you would use it through a website instead? I know Amazon has pinged one of my prepaid cards and it holds a buck that way. So if you wanted to buy a $200 Amazon code with a $200 prepaid card, you couldn't because of the ping and the transaction would be declined. But you could buy a $199 Amazon code and then wait a week for the $1 to be returned. The problem is is that not all prepaid cards put that buck back on. I know of someone who uses prepaid cards at the Kodak site and always loses that buck on the ping. Some card issuers do not put that back on your card (money goes only one direction --- off the card). Hope that helps. But a retail store should be able to handle the transaction. They just swipe the card (at least that is how it worked at Walmart when I got mine.)
Ahh, thank you so much for clearing that up! :)
