Active or retired military may want to check out the ticket offer available through Shades of Green at WDW in Orlando. Shades of Green is a resort near Magic Kingdom and it is open to military/DOD personnel. One drawback is that you can't book rooms there and get the dining plan too. However, they have an awesome golf course there.
For military who are planning a Disney vacation, you may want to check into the offer available through Shades of Green. From today (January 3, 2010) through July 31, 2010, a 4 day park ticket can be purchased for $99. The military member can purchase a ticket at this price for themselves and up to 5 other family members/friends. The tickets are non-transferrable and must be activated by September 26, 2010. You can add park hopper to the ticket, but it will cost an extra $25. This offer is subject to black out dates, so be sure to read the fine print.
I didn't find anything that said that you had to be a guest at Shades of Green to qualify to buy these tickets at discount. It may be possible to buy these tickets even if you aren't staying on site. Armed Forces Vacation Club does offer significant savings if you are willing to stay off site (condos subject to availability, of course.)
