Family meals are an integral part of our family culture. Growing up, my parents didn't sit down to eat dinner with us kids. So when my husband and I started our family, we decided to make family meals where everyone sits down together a part of how we wanted to raise our kids. That time is spent eating and recounting our days. It's our time for checking in with everyone and making sure all of our needs are being met. I ask my kids every day: "What did you learn today at school?" or "How did you do on that test?" I When our schedule is tight with overlapping or nearly overlapping activities around dinner time, I make an effort to come up with quick and easy dinners for everyone's sake. Even if that means we are eating a bit earlier than normal or in between piano and soccer practice -- a space of 20 minutes if you factor in the travel time. It's days like those that I appreciate companies who offer high quality foods that can be prepared quickly.
