CVS Health Savings Pass program: Save money on prescriptions AND 10% off visits to CVS' Minute Clinic

CVS has launched its Health Savings Pass, which includes a hefty list of more than 400 generics where CVS customers can get a 90 day supply of a medicine on the list for just $9.99. I was giddy with joy when I noticed a medicine that a family member uses on this list. I'd been paying a $10 copay monthly for that medicine and a 90 day of it for the same price is a no-brainer for me. For a list of the 400 plus generics that are covered under CVS' new Health Savings Pass program, please click here.

There is a fee, however, to join the program. The cost is nominal, though, especially if you use prescription medicines on the list heavily. The $10 annual fee is per person, and you do need to sign up (which can be done through the CVS website) to reap the benefits. You can join at any time, so if you suddenly find a family member who would benefit from the program, you can sign up at that time.

The CVS Health Savings Pass program also offers a 10% discount on visits to the Minute Clinic. Many Americans have suddenly found themselves without medical insurance, and many just do not have a primary care doctor (this evidenced by our last visit to the E.R. wherein 75% of the folks there clearly had the flu and the other 25% were there for emergency care for other problems). There is a limit of $10 discount for Minute Clinic visits (and no discount is available for Floridians), but that would be the break even point anyway.
