New Coinstar news: No fee cash in for select grocery store gift cards.

Got change?  You can turn it into grocery store gift cards at Coinstar.  Cash your change ($5 to $500) in at no fee for a gift card to:

Albertsons
Acme
Farm Fresh
Shop and Save
Hornbackers
Shoppers (Food Warehouse)
Jewel-Osco
Lucky
Shaws

That's a cool deal for people who live in the West.  I just saw a post on a Refunding Board that was asking for a list of banks that let you cash your money in for free.  Maybe a Coinstar would be of  use to that person in California.

I believe it is a scum. A friend of mine, a Snr VP for one of the biggest bank in the US, counted a jar full of coins in her machine. $ 479.27.
Today for fun we went to a coinstar in a CVS in Los Angeles and we got a cash value of 286,74.
That is so ridiculous. We got the coins back and changed them for paper money at her bank!
Thanks Coinstar for ripping US people off!

In a case such as this, contacting the local county's bureau of weights and measures might be worth doing. These are the same people who go around making sure businesses' weights properly weigh things, gas stations properly dispense 1 gallon for X.XX at the pump.
